		<description>I believe what happens is the pump that moves gasoline from the tank to the above ground hose you put into your car is at the bottom of the underground tank. Water is less dense than gasoline so the water floats atop of the gas. The lower the gas gets, the closer to the pump the water gets. &quot;Skimming&quot; the water off the top is tough to execute and thus you get water stuck in the tanks until they are replaced.</description>

		<description>Chuck is right. Gas is prone to absorbing water and the cool underground tanks are a ripe place for collecting water. Keeping water out of places like gas tanks is a large challenge due to their sealed nature and awkward location.</description>
